Aidan and Jack’s engagement session on the coast of Amelia Island was everything a couple could ever dream of. There’s just something about the beach that brings out the softness in people. For Aidan and Jack, their Amelia Island engagement session felt like a mix of ease, calmness, sweetness, and genuine connection.
We met up in the late afternoon, just in time for the golden hour glow to start making its way across the dunes. Amelia Island has this quiet charm, far enough removed from the bustle, to feel like a secret. Full of personality with its historic charm, soft rolling waves, and gentle sea breeze. It’s honestly one of my favorite places to document couples because its laid back, simple, and beautiful. Which is exactly how I want my couples to feel during our time together.
From the start, Aidan and Jack felt like old friends. They were warm, calm, easygoing, and totally themselves. I made sure there wasn’t a moment that felt forced or overly posed. They laughed a lot, snuggled up on the sand, and splashed each other in the water before we were ready to wrap up.
One of my favorite moments from the session was when we wandered toward the edge of the Atlantic Ocean just as the sun was dipping low. The light was soft and honey-toned, catching in Aidan’s hair and wrapping the two of them in the most beautiful glow. They held hands and ran towards the water together, while laughing and splashing each other ever so modestly. It was real, fun, tender and brought out so much laughter. Intimate in that way that feels like you’re witnessing something truly theirs.

Beach sessions come with their own kind of unpredictability, which I honestly love. Wind in the hair, dresses dancing around legs, waves sneaking up on us… it’s all part of the story. And when couples like Aidan and Jack embrace that wildness, it makes for the kind of magic you can’t plan. Their joy was effortless, and it shows in every frame.

If you’re thinking about a beach engagement session on Amelia Island, here are a few quick tips we followed that made all the difference:
- Keep it simple: Flowing outfits, minimal props, and bare feet always work beautifully in this kind of setting. There’s no need to over do it.
- Embrace natural movement: Walk, play with your dress, dance, skip around! Don’t worry about
- Go with the weather: Now of course if it’s blowing 20 knot winds, we might get pelted by sand and some people aren’t really cool with that. However if you keep an open mind and embrace whatever happens, that is seriously where the magic happens. Nature always has something cool to offer if we let it.
Sessions like these remind me why I love what I do. Not just because I get to use a camera, but because I get to witness the real stuff. I’m not here for picture perfect photos. Give me all the quiet hand squeezes, belly laughs, and comfortable silences.
Aidan and Jack, thank you for trusting me to capture the spirit of your love. I can’t wait to see you two get married, build your life, and keep making memories that feel just as warm and effortless as this session did.
