This recent session in Winter Park, Florida, was everything I love about in-home lifestyle photography: cozy, simple, personal, and full of meaningful details.
From the moment I walked into this couple’s beautiful, antique-filled home, I knew this session would be unforgettable. The charm was in every corner—from the vintage floral arm chairs and distressed wood accents to the soft natural light pouring through the windows. Each piece in their home seemed to tell a story, setting the perfect stage for documenting the newest chapter in theirs: the arrival of their sweet baby girl.
A home full of love and light pouring through the windows
We began the newborn session indoors, capturing quiet, intimate moments that unfolded naturally of the couple caring for their little one in the nursery room. The baby was snuggled into the arms of two glowing parents who radiated both joy and that unique mix of awe and exhaustion only new parents know. There’s a certain kind of magic in those early days. Soft, sleepy, and sweetly chaotic… I always strive to document that energy without forcing anything. This family made it so easy. Their connection was evident in every glance and every gentle touch. Making sure both their needs were met and always being there for one another. A true inside peek to their every day lives as parents.
Their home’s vintage decor added such a timeless quality to the images. Soft, earthy tones, and natural textures provided a calm and cozy backdrop, letting the emotion and connection take center stage. A backyard picnic
After spending time inside dancing in the living room, we moved out to their backyard for a relaxed picnic-style setup. The Florida sun filtered softly through the trees, casting a dreamy glow over the afternoon. We laid out a quilt on the grass, while the sweet baby laid in her bassinet, almost falling asleep with the gentle sunlight and breeze falling on her skin.
It’s always amazing how just a little outdoor time can add so much variety and depth to a newborn session. Baby stayed perfectly content, while dad snuck in forehead kisses and talked about how relaxed she was. The setting was natural and unhurried, just the way family sessions should be. With a few quiet pauses to soak in the fresh air and the birdsongs, the backyard became the perfect spot to wrap up this at home newborn session.

You get to look back on the house they were first brought home to. The nursery that mom and dad so thoughtfully designed.
Another reason at-home newborn sessions are a favorite of mine is because you’re already in your comfort zone! Being in front of a camera doesn’t always come naturally for most people and it helps so much when you’re already in your own space. It truly helps take the unnecessary pressure off!
